Once i have sold my house i am going to buy a lightweight i would like to know a bit about them
What engines did the have fitted , i have seen petrol 24 valves and V6 what are the best Motors ??
I fancy V8
anyone got any pics of them and interia what little they have i want one of these as i love the shape and style of them but also i want it for some serious off road use.

As standard they were only ever built with 2.25 4cyl petrol engine or, I believe, latterly 2.5 nat asp diesel.
Popular conversions were/are Rover V8, Ford Cologne V6, Turbo Diesels etc...
They are essentially stripped out Series II/IIIs

Get a 12v as its cheaper for service parts. The factory diesel was 2.25 but was fitted to left hand drives. Look for a GS model and not a FFR as these were 24v and had a lot more wireing.
As for fitting other engines, then as sad you can fit anything that will fit in a series 3.

what prices do they fetch for V8?
-
They fetch more for original unmolested models I believe.
From the prices in the small ad's of the usual magazines they can be anything from around 1k to 4k for fully restored with every combination of modification in between.
(Wanna buy a restoration project? Think of it as a blank canvas  )

chris what you got then?
