well 'JRA (Jaguar River Australia) installed the Isuzu 3.9 as the diesel of choice in their 110 derivatives, so surely that's a good enough recommendation?

Sorry mate, being a bit thick here. Which same clutch? The landy one or the Isuzu?
-
landy one

As Bush tucker says, the Ausies love them in there 6x6 landys.
The 3.9 is an even better engine, my engine man Greenshields of Wellington has fitted 2.8, 3.9 izusu engines in landys and RR, even the Mitsu 2.8.
He put the 4.2 Toyota in my 130, hes a top bloke on diesel conversions down here in the South West.
