Some of you lucky Rangie owners will have heated washer jets.
Can anyone tell me which models they were fitted to, so I can try to acquire some from a scrapyard/scrapdealer.
Unless anyone has some spares kicking about?
:D
-
Father-in-law had them on his P38 rangie vogue (1998 I think)
-
Thanks Mace, that's a good start.
Can anyone suggest any more?
(The more suggestions the better chance of tracing some  )
-
That P38 was ace. -5 outside and you could get in start up, heated screens on all round, warm bums and away in 2 mins....lovely
-
Next time our car is up for a change (if pennies are tight) I might get a P38 and keep the Discovery for a toy

Both ours have them so look for a Vogue or SE.

Just to be sure, is that one the one you bring laning i.e. a Classic Vogue or SE.
(If so that will give me lots more scope to find some) :D

Mine is a 1990 Vogue se & it's got them. On your doner car look through the grill-O/S & you should see a small circle, this is the "Cold" sensor that switches the heater on. That means that car has them but that's all I know about them. The wiring etc. should be interesting to trace, especially on a RRC !!!!--Cogs

Which? What? When? Where? How? Who? The last ones I wired up (not LR) simply connected to the washer hose/pipe as normal and had a wire which you connected to the washer pump. Maybe these are not going to be as easy to fit......
I'm game for a laugh though (if I can find some  ).

Cavalier and Senator had them too, the sensor is a thermister, a positive temperature coeficient thermal variable resistor, as it gets hot the resistance rises and turns the heating down in the washer jets, simply wire in series with the jets themselves, take the power from an ignition source.
Yes Tim, it's the blue one I lane in and my sister's 1991 Vogue which I'm sure had them fitted as new, the blue one well your guess is as good as mine but they are there now.

Thanks RRB,
There is a pint with your name on it if you are coming on Wednesday
-
TimM, can't understand the - which?what?when?where?how?who? comments on your reply to mine. I thought you wanted HELP in identifying the RRC's that had heated washers on them. That's what I gave you, an easy way to see if heated set up is fitted.--Cogs

You did, thanks
What I ws trying to express was my shock at how it sounded like a complicated setup compared to the others I've come across.
I appreciated your advice, and it will save me time looking under bonnets if I visit a scrapyard (i.e. I won't waste my time on ones without the disc).
:D

Cheers mate, all sorted. Good luck with the hunt for bits. Thats one set-up I have never seen on "E" blag but there must be loads of folk who have broken RRC's with the heated system on.--Cogs
-
Did spot one on Eblag recently, but I was outbid, so I gave up for a while, but this time of year I would appreciate having them so I'm looking again now.
There must be some out there somewhere, and with the info gained from this thread (thanks everyone :D ) I should stand a fighting chance of finding some.

Far too complex and expensive
Short length of copper pipe, wrap a small bore copper tube around it, fit the big pipe in to the heater or top hose whichever gets hot first, pipe the washer jets through the small pipe.Hey presto a cheap heated washer system.
Saab fitted these to some models
-
Naaah,
Been there done that
Once you've tried the electric versions, you wouldn't go for the heated pipe trick, especailly when you try the electric ones on a cold morning before you have warmed the engine.
Thanks for the suggestion though :D
-
Good point, let me know what you end up using and how you wire it
-
My 1996 P38 HSE had them...
-
my 1990 vogue's got them

Thanks for all your help so far,
I have a huge list of donor vehicles now, it might have been quicker to ask "does anyone have a range rover WITHOUT heated washers"
Unfortunately I went round a few local scrap yards this weekend, and still didn't find any  there were hardly and Range Rovers there at all

I don't suppose anyone has a spare set kicking about do they? [-o<

Try E-blag, contact some of the specialist breakers like RR heaven. There aren't many locally now that DEL has packed up.
-
Tried Eblag this morning (again) but couldn't find any. Must admit I didn't try looking for a breaker on Eblag though.
What I did find this afternoon was some heated jets for Mk2 Golf, including post and packaging at £7 so I've bought them anyway (incase I can't find any proper ones).
When they come I will offer them up and see if I can get them to fit, if I manage it I will let you all know, and I might try to make it into a step by step suitable for the Mud-Club Workshop.
But don't hold your breath, they haven't turned up yet......
