Title: Heaters naff now too
Post by: landroverkeith on November 23, 2005, 17:15:05
Well they say bad luck comes in three`s :( my heater has just decided to pack up. it will blow hot after about 15 / 20 mins which is just about how long it take to get to work lol not much use just as im getting out the car.

Any ideas on the cause and remedy ? car temp gauge also seems to be running a little lower than usual too ...

cheers keith

The first thing would be the thermostat, easy to get at and change

Or go the way of a thermostat controlled electric fan

First thing would be to check the water level to be honest :?

Then check thermostat and things of that ilk.

I just had that too .. water level dropped slightly (no leak, just not checked since June !!) and heater is the first thing to dry up. On the V8 there's a tap at the very top which you trickle water into to fill it up, not sure on diesels. Definately check that first though .. I took the pipes off and blasted the heater with the hosepipe just to check the flow was good too - it was ! my feet got soaked - lol

Simon.

Good grief Keith
I am so glad you didn't swap your Disco for my 110 - you seem to be on here every 10 minutes with something else wrong !

just taken the viscous fan off mine to improve the heat up etc, did it hell  i think the thermostat must be open all the time as it never gets a needles width off cold according to the gauge, the only time i have got it really hot was when i drowned it in mud and blocked the rad

I must admit that the heater in my disco is great, and until the motor packed up, it was lovely.

I now can only stay warm if I'm only doing at least 50
