Title: Supermarket Series
Post by: Bush Tucker Man on November 21, 2005, 20:58:03
I went to one of the local (well, over in Castleford) DIY chain-stores on Sunday morning for a couple of items for the basement utility/dog-room/boot-room refurbishment & saw this lovely little Series 1 outside the supermarket on the same site

CPY 180C (http://community.webshots.com/photo/396495839/509269232TDKVSQ)

I spoke to the lady driving it & congratulated her on such a charming vehicle.
It's ex-military & has the screw-capped socket on the rear panel.

She told me her (late) husband but it over 30 years ago & had cherished it.
Upon his sad demise, it was lef tto her & she kept driving it as a memorial to him.

I also see a quite tidy mid 70's Series 3 (88") at Morissons in Rothwell (near Leeds) when I go for Dog-food

Big new sink installed this eveing, just drains to connect up

Nope, they are still fitted, The jag lump was binned as the head gasket blew. This was a big job as the bulkhead would have had to come off to get the head off.

Soooo, out came the plasma cutter, off with the front crossmember, out came the engine. Swaped the Jag bell housing for SD1 one and bunged V8 in from an SD1.

Tis all on hold now as the chassis seems to be winning the race, after all that it may be more sensible to rechassis him "Percy" after all.

Full spec here.
