Better leave the mud on the disco, its the only way I'll spot it in the snow
-
Well looks like I will be playing in the snow later this week then. We always get it on the hills just up the road from me.
Paul
-
Well it is certainly right about the dense fog here.... can't see across the yard to the unit opposite and it's only about 70 ft away!
And a 70% chance a snow in Norfolk ...... woopee!! Good job I haven't started the engine swap in the 110.
-
Can anyone explain the percentage figures they use for these things ?
"There is a 50% chance of snow"
So... it's either going to snow....... or it's not
;-)
-
a brilliant question, so how would it work with say 30% ???
-
never mind questioning the existential nature of snow.......
Civil Contingencies Secretariat
what the chuff is that? Some ex-eastern block admin department sold off on E-bay?
-
never mind questioning the existential nature of snow.......
existential??? Huh?
what the chuff is that?.....

Only just shut the garage and come inside after an afternoon of wheel bearings and track rods ends! I hate mot time! Believe me its gone way past brass monkey weather in Rotherham today!

And Im doing a nightime test for a trail event that is in the planning stages! That should be fun..its equally split between woodland and old spoil tips!
-
Note to self.
I must get me a set of snowchains.
-
What size tyres are you running?
-
20% chance of snow here. Pity! It makes our garden look like everyone else's. :D

Note to self.
I must get me a set of snowchains.
Followed up a few companies selling the £29.99 sets of snow chains on E-bay this afternoon.
And the price of snow chains for 'proper' sized tyres (well for my 33" x 15" x 12.5")?
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
£229.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
.
.
.
.
.
For just one pair!!!!!!
.
.
.
"Ah- well sir you're into the Comercial tyre sizes now- we can charge more for them....."
Yes- you're not f******g kidding are you- £500 for a set of four snow chains!! I'll take my chances without them this Winter thanks.
-
If I've got 40% snow coming, whats the other 60% of the weather going to be?
OR
If I'm gettin 40% snow, who's getting the other 60% of it?
OR
What weather do i have the greater percentage chance of getting?
What the hell do the percentages mean?
-
what they mean is: if it was going to snow there is a forty percent chance of it happening.but as it only forty percent it's ten percent away from ....maybe yes maybe no...
-
I am absolutely certain that there is a distinct possbility of there being a likelyhood of the snow falling at some point in the country in the near future, and I can predict without fear of contradiction that this possibility may transpire to be a reality and when this occurs then we will all be reassured that my predictions were indeed almost entirely accurate.

Looking at the Met Office site again- it actualy says a 40% chance of "disruption" whatever that means? So not even a 40% chance of snow then? Reading between the lines all it means is a chance of snow for Scotland and the rest is just covering their a***s.
-
they should change the map to read YES, NO or DUNNO.
-
Slowly being downgraded.......
http://www.met-office.gov.uk/weather/europe/uk/warnings.html
Now we're at only 30% risk of disruption....b****r.
-
I like this bit:
"Current timings suggests the onset of the very cold weather will be around 0600 Thursday in Shetland, 1800 Thursday for Northern Ireland across to northern England, and 2359 Thursday for southern parts."
In perticular the words "around" and "2359". The latter sounds really quite precise for "around".
And:
"Snow will also occur at low levels ".... what? do they mean on the ground?
-
"Snow will also occur at low levels ".... what? do they mean on the ground?
nah, they mean below ground!

I noticed that earlyer....[Edited]....they lost it...
I think its funny as we got the MC Lakes run this weekend and that would be funny WHITE LANING...lmao I am thinking about sleeping in the landy dont like the idea of waking up with 8 cm of snow on and arround tent...COLD.....
But then again it is a iglu tent....lol
-
OPPS just been up graded to 80% :(scared):
-
Yep, it could be a White Weekend - after the initial blast from the Arctic, there's a Low moving in from Scandinavia ... could dump even more of the white stuff on us!
Time to put the recovery gear in the truck, I think ...
-
Well thats it. No risk now so we are in trouble. They say its not so its bound to.....
-

 Never took the stuff out

http://www.met.ie/forecasts/
The Irish Met Office usually are a bit more reserved in their forecasting of severe
weather - whick normally turns out to be accurate....so when they issue a warning for snow its time to take note!
Time to put my sleeping bag in the car- don't want be stuck at work again with just a coat!
-
They are only forecasting 3 - 4 inches. I shall get worried once it gets to be wellie deep.

1/2" of sleet that rapidly turned into a sheet of ice was enough to bring the Midlands to a grinding halt two years ago! Along with many others we forced to overnight at work due to cars and trucks blocking the roads.
-
Snow, and lots of it, is guaranteed for North Yorkshire.
Why? My quad is 20 miles away from me, and I haven't worked out how to get it home yet. :?
-

Page updated- look out Scotland!
-
 Scotland is getting all our snow!
My bit is down to 20-30% now
-
Are we ready for the snow?
. Gas tank full, freezer full, large supply of cat food laid in, generator fuelled and ready to go in the event of a power cut, logs chopped and stacked ready for the fire.
I`ve got the whiskey   ,next door got the beer :P :P
That's about it I think
-
generator fuelled and ready to go in the event of a power cut
Hmmm, that's me jealous now, we don't get power cuts any more often than anyone else, but it's always nice to be prepared

Thanks sparkes,
Not that we can see a lot now the lens is covered!
But at least I will know where to find it later
-
It's just hit here - a 10 minute blizzardy thing, not quite snow and certainly not rain (so sleet I guess !). The wind has now dropped, nothings settled just a very light dusting across the cars....
Will be a complete bu&&er if it freezes now
Jim
-
There was me, hoping it would make it this far south, and now you are telling me I've missed it and it's down there now!
-
It was here.............the grey skies have cleared, the wind has dropped, and it just looks like another miserable winters day now !
