Title: Advice on Bits!!
Post by: mattyoung69 on November 17, 2005, 20:09:00
Im new to the land of Suzuki owning and am waiting Santa to bring me my Haynes book!

On starting her, she needs a good foot full of gas to get her started, once shes warmed, its ok but other times you can watch the fuel gauge go further south than convicts in the old days...

any ideas - i was thinkin of changing starter motor initially...

95' SWB Vitara 1600.

Hello, I'm new to this forum too.

You don't mention if your Vit is carb or injection?

If it's carb I'll bet your auto choke is playing up  :(

It's a relatively easy fix.  Fit a manual choke conversion or fit a webber carb.

Changing the starter won't solve this problem.  :(

If see is running funny and needs a foot on the gas to start try checking spark plugs, ht leads and rotatary arm etc. I these are dodgy this would make her allergic to cold otherwise try cleaning the carb out or fitting a new one.

Like damon says the starter motor isn't going to be the problem.

As for saving petrol, try fitting free wheeling hubs. Make sure tyres pressures are correct.
