Title: Shock confusion
Post by: unknownmanxman on October 23, 2005, 14:18:57
Right, i have to pairs of rear gas shocks, both made by monroe. One pair came off a rangerover and the other pair from a disco... Now, the rangey ones are quite easy to compress, i just sorta have to lean on them! Whereas the disco ones i have to use nearly all my weight to compress them.

Why the difference? is one pair knackered?

one pair is probably knackered

the other thing is rangies have a softer rear suspension setup due to the self leveller

Even with the difference in suspesions, if you can compress the rangie ones that easy they sound as they are goosed.........

Ive got both procomps and decarbon sat in the garage , both new. You can compress both of them fairly easily with your bodyweight. Dont forget shocks are there to damp down the action of the spring not to stop it.
Does sound as if the easy ones are on there way out. The ones that come off my disco werent that easy to compress - but they werent like rock either. :?:
