Title: range rover Ecu position?
Post by: gene4x4 on October 22, 2005, 23:45:38
hi
probably a dumb question, but  have never touched one on a Rnage rover.
Am in need of information as to the where abouts of the Ecu on a P38 2001 Range rover so i can install a performance chip into it,also does the manual recomend disconnection at all of the battery for this?and if so is there any problems with any of its functions needing to be reset on re-connection of battery leads or not.
Regards
Gene :(

The ECU is in a big black box in the engine bay...  follow the big, thick wiring loom from the front of the engine.

I would imagine you need to disconnect the battery, but I would suggest asking the supplier of the chip.  There ought to be a decent set of instructions with it.  If there isn't... walk away !
