Hiya
Im on the lookout for ideas for routing my split charge cable between batteries
The second battery is mounted behind the passenger headlamp, sort of mirroring where the original cranking battery is.
Which route have you peeps that have done this, taken your battery to battery cable ?
I am considering bringing it out behind the drivers headlamp and running it under the bonnet catch plate through to the passenger headlamp and round to the battery.
Fuses and Relay inline accordingly ;) But can anyone provide a better cable route?
Cheers

No, next question?
As I see it you have only two options, run it round the front as you have suggested or round the back, and that would require lots more cable, it would probably be easier, but consider the cost of good quality cable....
You've chosen a route, I would stick to it.

Thanks Tim,
Now just need to get some of that black plastic tube stuff to protect the cable with ;)

What are you thinking?

The only other 2 ways to route it would be back round the bulkhead (the long way to the same end) or down and along the front chassis member, not handy for power cables if you are going in water, and again not worth the effort really
You should not really need any extra protection on the cable, just make sure it doesn't rub on any metal corners on its way round, use grommets through any holes that look a bit tight

Exactly, if you put the cable into a black plastic tube for protection....... and then damage that tube........ then you are even more likely to damage the cable as the broken tube may cut into the cables sheathing and the cable itself.
You are better off spending the 'plastic tube money' on ensuring you have a good quality cable in the first place.

Citreon bx's are chock full of the stuff. And scrappies are chock full of bx's. Theres a moral there!

There is a good reason why the battery cables don't run accross the front of the car. If you are unlucky enough to have an accident there is a potential fire hazard in having unfused cables in the crumple zone.
Either feed the cable inside the front chassis rail near the PAS pipes or further back in the engine bay.
Where is your split-charge relay? If your second battery is for the winch then you could connect the cable via the solenoid pack for that.
Our second battery is wired in parallel and the cable runs across the top of the electric fan brackets (which are plastic) inside that plastic armouring.
