could be clutch fluid leaking into the bell housing from the slave cylinder or engine oil from the rear main seal on the crank or perhaps g,box oil coming from the g/box input shaft seal maybe?
-
Water and oil wouldn't mix so you'd expect to see mayonaise. Clutch fluid is miscible so you'd get a sugary/slippery water.
You need to keep a close check on your fluids for a while and see which one's going down. Also, was there enough liquid for the clutch to be sat in a pool of it?

That was my thoughts Andy, could it be water and dust from the clutch pressure plate mixed? :?

i fink it is the crank case seal any body know how hard job it is to change mine is a 200tdi auto

engine out is the easiest way
few mates round - plenty of beer / tea and it will be done in about 6 hrs
could do the clutch at the same time if needed.

You have to be a Superhero to do it without separating the engine and box, David's right. Get some beers in and make those 'phone calls.

Did BB's rear crank seal. leave lump in, split gearbox from engine, removed front rear prop, turned box slightly and moved backwards to gain access.
Changed seal and clutch, all back together in 8 hours.
Chris
ps: shaft seal still leaks due to crank being worn.
pss: have fitted wading plug with hose connection/trap so water can't get back into bell housing, but oil can drain
