Just been to Malta myself and had to spend ages ringing round to get a Land Rover - ended up jumping out into the road infront of a hired one (all hire cars there have a k at the end of the numberplate) and asking where he got it.

Tim

P.S. Most of the Suzukis out there were Maruti's - maybe Suzuki translates to Donkey or something else ridiculous.

Maruti's are licence built in India.  You get loads of them all over the Med. Islands.  They do a cool long wheelbase soft top, which I've never seen with a Susie badge.

Loads of Egyptian built licenced Jeep CJ's too on the Greek islands.

The only Landies you tend to see are owned by jeep safari companies!

JEEP safari companies usin' Landies!!!        I ask you!!!!!!!

You surely didnt expect to find a hire company  with landys  , they would need a fleet of 30- to make sure they had 10 on the road -the rest being in the wokshop at any one time ,No they nead 100% reliable cars and thats what the Jimny (thing) is , its the old adage you get what you pay for .

Contradiction in terms there. The landy costs 4 times the price of the Zuke.
