Was the steering damper kit easy to relocate :?:

very simple Andy
You fit the plate (http://members.mud-club.com/profiles/Jake/gallery/jake28/0/518137-1122138474.) part using the supplied nuts and bolts
you then fit the plate (http://members.mud-club.com/profiles/Jake/gallery/jake28/0/419209-1122138516.) to the front track arm after measuring the distance between the original dampers location points. On my disco it was 17 3/4 inches.
Then you fit the damper (http://members.mud-club.com/profiles/Jake/gallery/jake28/0/112679-1122138420.). I went for a DeCarbon one as the cheapys i've been using from Paddocks die to quick.
The last job was to remove the original damper from behind the axle.
Took me less than an hour.
:D

lookin gr8 jake cant wait to see the rest :D

Looks sweet...You've been spending some cash!
Go for the 4.11 diffs better than the transfer box as it lowers your low ratio as well.
Had a decarbon steering damper die on me after less than a month!! I couldnt tell(handles badly anyway  ) but had to take it off for something else and had to drift it out! seized solid, DOH

:(shades):
go dude
does the damper perform well??
i need to do that too

I dont know, Not driven her yet

I payed £69 at Billing. Lifts the wheel loads. Apparently you can stick a 36" tyre on it!!

I will be too. Transfer box to get the road speed back then diffs to get the low ratio right.

I keep my eye on that. Cheers for the tip!
ps. DeCarbon stuff has a year warrenty from Delphi.

jake, you only need to change the ring and pinions to correct the gearing, if you change the transfer box aswell, youll go too low on both high and low range

Is that a hard job?
Still learning cars!
any idea what i'd need to do the job eg parts, tools?

My DeCarbon steering damper has packed up too, it isn't stopping steering shimmy which is a lilttle worrying. I've put the standard one back on AS WELL for now.

Have a look at Ashcroft's site (http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/), they do the R&P or the complete diff.
I went for the transfer box, mainly cos of time & money, and it was fitted within a day. We had a 1000 mile round trip to Yorkshire a couple of weeks later so I didn't want to do that trip with the old t-box in!! :?
The t-box is £525 + VAT delivered but you get £100 back when you return you old box.
The rebuilt diffs are £255 + VAT on the web site, but that's for a standard 3.54 ratio and I can't remember what they were with the 4.11 R&P fitted but as the R&P on their own are £115 dearer than the standard ones then you may be getting up towards the price of the tranfer box for one diff!!
If your okay with changing the R&P (http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/part_15.html) on both diffs then it's £195 per diff + VAT & delivery plus any bearing etc that you may want to do at the same time.
Hope this helps!! :D
