i believe it will, though after playing round Tixover in Stanton Boys i'd be very tempted to fit a 200tdi if you can find one!!!
if you have any questions on fitting the tdi contact Stanton Boy, he'll be glad to try and help/advise you, i'm sure.

It is quite straight forward to fit either 2.5n/a or 2.5td from a defender or the 200tdi from either a defendr or a disco but the disco engine is alot more difficult to fit because of the turbo location and the exhaust, you will have to remove the battery tray from the chassis to make room for the diesel pump, with the 2.5n/a ot td you can use the series radiator but you will need to loose the viscous coupling, with the tdi you need to try and accomodate the intercooler which can be tricky. other than that it is quite easy as you can use the series mountings and bolt them straight onto the new engine.  If you need any more info just give us a shout.   I fitted a disco 200tdi into my series short wheel base and it now flies.

Is the 300 Tdi harder to fit then the 200?  Most of the 200 Tdi's I've seen advertised are high mileage (due the thier age I guess)  Will a 200/300 bolt staight to my 2A box?

Thanks

I don't know about the 300tdi,  but the 200tdi will fit on to your box, what you need to do is use the 200tdi clutch pressure plate with the series 2a friction plate.  On the diesel pump side of the engine there is a gearbox mounting stud in the bell housing that needs to be removed.

You will also have to fit four studs into the bottom of the bell housing if it is a disco engine as on the disco it uses four long through bolts and these don't line up with the series gearbox.

Did you use Disco or Defender manifolds and turbo?

I used the disco inlet and exhaust manifolds,  Inlet is not an issue, but you will have to cut the cast front pipe and rotate it about 1/2" clockwise to clear the chassis rail, you will the have to fabricate an exhaust system.
Every thing else clears. Radiator and inter cooler are all a little tricky, but it just a matter of finding the best fit.  I ditched the viscous fan and fitted electric fan instead, much easier. if you require any info just drop us a pm.
i don't mind taking photo's if this helps.

I have a Series 3 2.25Diesel and I would not recomend it for power as I run out of steam when going up steep hills yeh go for the 200tdi
