Title: Capri or Essex V6 manifolds?
Post by: winchman on October 01, 2010, 21:30:15
A good friend of mine saved a 3litre capri from the scrap man a few years ago.
Problem now is the exhaust sytem has had it, we can possibly bodge the pipes but the manifolds are beyond repair.
Any ideas where we can get a set at a  reasonable price? any one got two in the shed???
Its a 3l Essex engine so possibley a set from a Scimitar would fit?

It's an unbelievably long shot - but - I may have a pair at my dad's from a Morris Minor that I had 20 years ago that had a 3.0 V6 Essex in it.

I'll check next time I'm down at his house.

Like I say - long shot, but I'll have a look.

One or two places that make stainless exhausts will be able to make up a set of headers, they start with a laser cut plate for the gakset face.  Obvioulsy not cheap though.

Thats the problem, we bodged them a few years ago but now beyond repair.
Its the age old problem, the exhaust and headers will cost more than its worth, so if we can find a set of headers we can make an exhaust from whats left iof the old one and a few bits

Well if it's any consolation the 3.0litre is an appreciating classic, so by the time you've fixed it it will have been worth doing :D

ask around the kit car forums /usenet as the essex was popular lump for some of the ford based builds instead of using the usual pinto.
