Title: North East Portugal
Post by: Africa Jack on March 12, 2008, 09:49:56
Has any one been to this area in North East Portugal. Would like any info, incl campsites or GOOD places to stay for a couple of days, around Braganca and just south. Also the Montesinho Nat Park and along the Douro River. Any other advice??
We are booked on the ferry to Bilbao on 9th July. Anyone else going there?

Hi There,

The best book for camping sites in Portugal is the "roteiro campista" - find bits here - http://www.roteiro-campista.pt/Braganca/ing/frame-distrito-braganca-uk.htm (http://www.roteiro-campista.pt/Braganca/ing/frame-distrito-braganca-uk.htm)

The other good place to check for camp sites (usually the better quality ones) is with alan rogers http://www.alanrogers.com/search-results.php?2=2&Accomodation=Pitch&SearchCountryCode=29&SearchRegionCode=83 (http://www.alanrogers.com/search-results.php?2=2&Accomodation=Pitch&SearchCountryCode=29&SearchRegionCode=83)

If you get a chance - do try to visit Hans and Irene at http://www.alanrogers.com/campsite-info.php?SiteARNo=PO8400 (http://www.alanrogers.com/campsite-info.php?SiteARNo=PO8400) - they're great guys - we were there off season last year.......so we went out off roading together - had a brilliant time - had wonderful fish next to the sea ....so highly recommended!
