On sunday at Kirton HL suffered a breakage; there was a bit of a nasty noise, and I lost drive to the F/N/S wheel ( a kind of 'spang' -definitely not a clicky sound or a crunch or a bang) after removing the front prop I drove home in difflock with no apparent problems other than a bit of a loss of steering on left-handers and a bit of a rumble under acceleration. Votes please as to what damage I have done, opinions vary from halfshaft to CV joint to diff, I haven't looked yet, as I dont want to get her stripped down past the point of no return in case I need to get her to a garage. Your input please?

is there oil leaking from the diff casing?
if not probably bust a shaft at the diff end,if it wa sa cv joint i would expected it to have locked up by now whilst turning a corner

There's no leakage at all from the diff casing, or anywhere for that matter, and before trying to drive her I did check her lock to lock and there was no clicky noises.

start with the CV as you have to take them out anyway to get at the diff.
-
Sounds like a cv to me.
Specialy if you loose some left steering, Had three cv's go and this was one of the syptoms.

Well, she's been to 'out patients' today, and I've bust the diff :( ah well, had to happen some time I suppose. Surgery is scheduled for next week.
