Title: Anyone heard of a modified Timing Belt pulley kit to stop belt slipping off?

part no. STC4095LP is a Timing Belt Conversion Kit - Including Timing Cover - Aftermarket
which according to its description:
Prevents belt slipping forward off the pulleys (a common problem on 300Tdi's)

I believe that at least one pulley on this kit has a flange on its edge (to stop the belt coming off)

Does anyone think that this kit is necessary (or at least worth having) for a '94 Discovery 300 TDI (CHASSIS NUMBER:   MA122...) that's done 160,000 miles?

It's extremely expensive at

If the belt on at the minute is not chewed up on the edge, after 160,000 miles, I would think it has had the mod fitted. I always change the belt, idler, tensioner pulleys, also any seals that look wet,fit and forget for another 48,000 miles.

Reason for price is the timing case and cover is included. I think I am correct that the only difference with the 'old' to the replacment is that the hole is not chamfered for the stud you need to fit.... a simple fix.

All you really need is the full timing belt kit (that included the belt, stud, loctite, pulleys but no timing $$$ case/cover....
So all the kits supplied today will include theupgraded tensioner and shoulders pulley with the flanges fitted and instruction to check that the stud hole chamfered (spelling?). A decent non britpart kit is about 70 to 140 quid denso oem landrover genuine etc .

Soon as you take the cover off you will know if you engine needed the 'mod' as there will be a lot of rubber fluff and the edge of timing belt is feathered.
Thing is people say all these engine would either be dead by now or modified... but not so.... I have had two 300tdi engines (one high miles and one very low) that needed the mod where people simple just changed the belt regular instead of fitting flanged pulleys.

see what i mean here....

That rimmer brother 25 quid kit is not the full kit. and yuck ...rimmer brothers...srly?

this is want you want...
