Please can someone explain the attraction of driving in snow? All it is is a damned nuisance and gives lousy drivers even more opprtunity to show off their ineptitude!

I just don't get the appeal.

Apparently, if there are more than six flakes of snow a day in Hampshire, that is classed as a whiteout and rationing is enforced. I have already been out tonight to stock up on the vital stuff (beer, fags etc) and there is panic buying of bread and milk in the local Morrisons.
It must be getting cold as the local chavs have been out stealing extra tracksuits.

Well, its 5.45am in Lord Shagg-Pyle's House, and already the biggest kid  in the house, namely me, was woken up by a strange etheral glow coming through the curtains.
No, the local Chavs hadn't set fire to my wheelie bin.
Snow had arrived in Hampshire. As it is now over half an inch deep, and the local Council has called an Emergency Meeting to discuss the 'Problem', and the Press have started their usual.
"Massive Snowfall Gridlocks The South!" (The Times)
"Ok, It snowed, so lets get on with" (Any paper other than in the South of the UK)
"Mass Panic Buying of Bread, Milk and Blue Rinse Hair Dye, as the Met Office warns it could be set to last until Lunchtime!"( W.I Parish Newspaper)
"SNOW, and we blame Tony Blair!" (The Daily Mail)
"Global warming causes snow to fall in winter!" (Eco Warrior and Tree Huggers monthly)
"This wonderful snow has been brought to you by the excellent policy making ability of New Labour" (New Labour bum kissing propaganda daily)
"'Ere, Its well cold, Innit?" (The Chav Daily)

Whatever is said, the stuff looks nice, and is fun to play in.
Buts let not forget the sad side of the stuff. Poor old Frosty the Snowman does not get to stay around for very long.

In all seriousness, enjoy it and be safe folks. Nature, like George Bush, can be quite amusing and downright dangerous at the same time.

I'm off to  play now.

Byeeee!

But the main roads are all fine and running smooth, funny bit was that the entrance and roads into work were all gritted, but not the carparks, few dinks already  :?

Was that in a company vehicle or your own?

if your own, check your insurance carefully (especially if you're getting paid for doing it)

If anything happens, they could consider it as a 'Hire & Reward' situation & not pay out

Snow pics from Warwickshire-4" coverage here on the Burton Dasset Hills. Only 4x4's could make it to the top!! Quite a steep, long lane up to the country park on top. Coming back down the hill was interesting to say the least- the Surf was sliding dow sideways for a bit, and then ended up facing the wrong way in the field some 10 yards from the track!

School canceled so the kids had good fun sledging though!

We had a good covering today in the fair county of Rutland, made worse by it falling onto ice covered roads! Still good for a play though!

Anyone know what it's like in County Durham? Got to be up there by 9am tomorrow and it's work so can't take the Defender - I'll be in a Mercedes S500 sledge!

Chipping Norton?
That's Clarkson territory isn't it?

Jermey Clarkson???? he is a resident on the isle of man, now, Lives down in a light house (basically)

Yes he was/is. Didn't realise he had left. He still signs books at the local bookshop at Christmas.

Thought that was only his summer 'holiday home'???

Did our bit tonight  :D
Kids were off school so they spent most of the day in the back garden.
Got home from work and went out to a couple of local lanes, just driving the normal 'back lanes' was fun as not much other traffic had been about to get rid of the snow

Was that the lane to Coldharbour, from near the Wotton Hatch?  Looks great.

I had a bit of a play on the way to work, was odd wheelspining with MT's on and in low box!

yep i've eaten my words.. then went out to play! i was kinda trying to tempt fate a bit, looks like it worked :D not LOADS of snow, but on the other hand not bad either, especially compared with what we usually get around here ie SOD ALL!

however, someone also dumped a load of crap in the entrance to one of the lanes, which was quite bloody annoying  it hadnt been there long (you can tell from the pic) and i THINK we might have seen the person that did it... a guy drove past a few times with an estate car full of pallets... slowed down but drove on when he saw us. £20 says its him... [ed - prod with a sharp implement].

Just started snowing here again. Still snowed in from yesterday. My gf's dad managed to get out yesterday by getting one of the local farmers to pull him up the steep bit of track with his tractor. Then he went to pick up his Shogun that's been away for repairs. Coming back down the track he was sliding sideways! Had to pull his Disco out of the ditch yesterday due to a failed attempt to get out!

Supposed to be going greenlaning up in North Wales tomorrow, don't think I'll be able to go now :(

Nothing to talk about in the Kings Lynn area.
We were waiting all Thursday morning for the arrival of the white stuff.
Snow ploughs attached to the loaded gritters standing at the ready.
But it just didn't happen.
Ploughs now off.

Still snowed in here, though we had rain during the night and some of it has started to thaw. The gf's dad tried to get his Shogun out to get to the pub, but ended up stuck in a drift. So he's abandoned that, and walked to his Disco which was at the top of the lane from when he collected the Shogun. Then he rang to tell us the road is lethal too!

So now we've got drifts and a Shogun preventing us from getting out. Doh.

Just walked up to where he got stuck. He's actually right over to the side, and I reckon I could just about squeeze through the gap. Though knowing my luck I'd either slide across and hit his motor, or end up stuck myself. So another day stuck in the house!

The Ant Hill mob and I went to Hinckley yesterday to look for a new motor to replace RRR, (that's another story).

Well we stopped for a meal to let the tea-time traffic die down and set off back around 7.  I had to stop becasue the car I had bought was a bit uncomfortable to drive and just as we were rejoining the motorway 3 fire wagons sped past, blues and twos on, followed by EVERY police car they had.

"Oh cack" I thought, so with Julie following I tried to navigate around the back roads, through Nottingham and Mansfield.  It's dead hard whent he signs are covered in snow

Got back at midnight    Don't know what had happened on the motorway but just as we left they had turned on the 40 signs above the carriageway, they were 30 signs on the sliproad north for anyone joining the carriageway we left

Best thing about yesterday is that she wants to go again. she even asked if we can take a picnic & sit up on the bench for it (where we stopped on that corner of Ramsden Lane)
So come Easter, I'll have her back up there & let her run about, as it's a nice location for SWMBO & myself just to sit back as well.
