Title: ssangYong
Post by: Bouncy on July 20, 2007, 16:36:42
am I a solo ? I have a SSangYon Rodius (HUGE BUS) not really 4x4 but a big sod never the less. Any way

SsangYong rodius haveMerc engines and gear boxes so should I hide there?

Take pride of place being Thrashers older, more sensible, demue, rock and roll nutter sister.

anyone else having gripes or happiness please share as having one of the rarer new release vehicles puts us in a special place.

Whens the next Norfolk meeting??

Ah, the Rodius - no offence meant personally, but it's the most hideous thing ever to come off a drawing board  :x

I saw a lot of them in the Far East this year.  They're pretty popular around Thailand, Vietnam & Cambodia.

You mean it was actually drawn ?????

OUTRAGEOUS :(biglaugh):

Im sooo sorry, but 'hideous' is perhaps the most apt word..

God only knows what the resale value is, or de-appreciation.(?spelling)

Its like....oh I give up ! (probably what the designer said)

Be fair, it was definitely designed.  Unfortunately, it was designed as a saloon.  The day before the project was due to be approved, the designer suddenly realised that the brief had said ESTATE.  So he put dormer windows in.

Amazing how many people say the complete opposite of it being ugly. It gets a lot fo very positive attention and there are quite a few on the roads. And for space and performance she does ok in fact more than ok. I can get 3 full size baby seats across the back and a double and single pushchair in the boot.
Servicing is reasonable and parts have yet to be an issue.

I suppose that it being so new many people will go "ewwww" and of course the purists will make their faces go however for a solid vehicle that does the job intended it does not deserve the snide remarks. Nothing could bbe as ugly as that Fiat multipla thing.

I suppose that as ever beauty is in the eye of the beholder and those who want to make smart mouth comments about it can do

Watched a Musso off-road once. Apart from a lack of ground clearance, I was rather impressed.

its not the nicest looking by any means, but its not hideous either, its just , er, dont know how to say it, boring i suppose, but specwise they are good and cheap to buy, especially if you look at one 4 or 5 years old, they are peanuts, and as for the multipa, its nothing like as bad as that, that is just the worlds ugliest everything, not just carcatergory. ( sorry if youve got one, but they just are)

Don't feel consoled about the Merc engines in the Musso either - the warranty repair bill bankrupted the car making division. :-o

The Merc engines aren't really merc though are they, its the same as our Hyundai Terracan, its a "Merc Engine" but Merc haven't used a 2.9 4 Pot Diesel for donkey's years and even then it probably didn't have a Turbo and most certainly wasn't Common Rail Direct Injection, now weather that's "good" or "bad" let the buyer decide but after 9 years with the Merc Franchise I'll tell you, I didn't buy the Terracan because it had a Merc lump!

Although, it can't be disputed that one day, a long time ago Merc used it.

Ive all read killed of 2 shoguns and a fourtrak but what the hell we are about off roading and we have  trouble with the rest of the world with out picking on our fellow off roaders for the motor they run.

That's a bit ore like it, looks not dissimilar to a Nissan type cross-over 4x4.  If it were free I could live with it, is it comfy mate?

It is very comfy - big leather seats, autobox, cruise and climate control and lots of electric.

We chose it due to it's 3500kg towing ability (we use it to tow our caravan which is 1800kgs).

It's a lot of car for the money.

Ok not quites as good as a Disco3 but more than half the price!
