Title: possible problem with fuel feed????
Post by: didirangerover on January 21, 2008, 16:04:39
rusty has suddenly started juddering as though there is air in the fuel line. I've looked for loose nuts and checked the injectors, the metal fuel line and the return pipe and i can't see a leak anywhere. the fuel filter is only about a month old and it's fitted ok.  when I gave it a bit of welly it shot black crap all over the road but isn't running any better.  any ideas??? (it's a 200 TDi engine)

 Just a thought.
Does it have the in line filter near the rear axle which is normal on the 200TDi Disco?
If it does, take a good look at it, and clean it out. This can be the cause of the problems you are experiencing, The filter housing rots, and allows air to be drawn into the system.

When I get a fuel blockage (and I'm having a lot at the moment) I get an acrid grey/white smoke with no power at all, the fuel starvation effects the timing and fuel metering.

Black smoke would be excessive fuel :?  is your turbo winding up ok?

not to worry....not the fuel system.....looking like being a bit more major and structural. not blowing any black stuff at all now so i reckon it just needed a clear out....see new topic called steering ouch?
