I have some 7.50x16 tyres with rims on my swb, but am wondering if i could get my 235/70/16's fitted on there instead, at the moment they are on rangie 3 spoke alloys, but they wont fit over the fwh's, so was thinking of swapping them.
Is this gonna work or should i forget it now?
-
As you say the wheels won' fit but the tyres will, the only issue is that a 235 tyre on a 5.5" rim is a bit pinched.
-
the 235/70s are shorter than the 7.50s... 235/85's would be a better idea! what rims are the 7.50s on? they might be a bit narrow for 235's, but probably fine

Also just thought, the 235"s are probably tubeless whereas landy rims need a tube.........

good point

Series rims (rivetted) need tubes, later 90/110 rims (welded) don't need tubes.
It's often recommended to run with tubes if you go off the tarmac quite often, but there are not a lot of tyres that actually allow you to do this unfortunately.

i got 235*85R16s on mine, they are about the same height as my old 7.50s.
fills the arches nicely too.
i wouldnt fit them to 5.5 inch rims tho.

235/70 onto 5.5 inch does go, and i haven't seen any noticiable problems.

Only that i tend to get hung up a bit more than something a bit taller. But then a bit more right foot soon sorts that out. :D
