Title: Battery Light
Post by: stevepage3 on March 27, 2008, 14:12:35
Hi

I have a Mk1 Disco 3.5v8,  The battery light on the dash has started to glow and seems to get brighter when you rev the engine. At first  I thought this meant that the alternator had gone, but with a voltmeter on the battery I am still getting 14v + when the engine is running. Anybody have any idea what might be causing this, and how to reslove it.

Thanks

Steve

Check & clean the connections on the alternator, make sure there secure.

isn't just the alternator brushes or anything small like that is it?

It's usually the rectifier pack that's gone and the battery will be going flat IIRC.
