My 89 Classic is making a knocking/clunking when wheels are on lock, usually noticed when reversing off the drive.
I had the wheel off and checked for play, none noticeable, it recently just had new RH track rod end and Panhard rod bushes -and just passed MOT.
I am thinking possible wheel bearing or CV joint?
Any suggestions would be appreciated , won't have time to have a look before the weekend.
Thanks

Sounds like the symptom of the tyres rubbing on the radius arms - have a look to see if there is a shiny part on the radius arms about where the wheel would hit it.
Other than that would suspect CV joint or bearings like you say - go on it being CV joint and get a spare set of bearings, you got to get the bearings off to get to the CV joint anyway!

Thanks, that will be the logical approach.out with the tools!!! :o

For the extra cost get some swivel bearings as well... mine were well shot. If you have no noticable play then they'r eprobably fine but if not... at least you have them...!

Swivel bearings £4 each.
Clonk sounds like a CV

There is a bit of play when rocking the wheel with it jacked up, some noise seems to be the bearings so will take it apart and look. Thanks for the advice.
