Title: 2.25l Carburetor replacement
Post by: wookie_73 on November 07, 2005, 20:08:54
Hi all

I have a 2.25l lightweight engine in my S2a which I rebuilt a few years ago since then it has been running with a Webber carb, but I feel this carb's performance leaves something to be desired.
So I am looking for a replacement, I have been looking at twin choke types to give a good smooth power curve. The current favourite is a Minuki unit from the 2.5l Jeep. Any suggestions it needs to give good power throughout the rev range and handle steep inclines well and the exhaust being well under water. Also another thing to bear in mind is that at some point I will be fitting a supercharger, so a carb that is suited to this would be a good start but there again not essential as I could always change it again.

Cheers Dave

My friend James uses the SU HS6 carb in his 109 series 2.  Loads of power.

Fitting a Supercharger to a 2.25 Litre?  Are you mad?

I currently run the SU HS6, along with one or 2 other engine mods, works well for me.

Supercharging should get you about 200BHp reliably although personal life expectancy may be dramaticaly reduced.

www.automotivecomp.com is well worth checking out. Got various parts from them when i rebuilt the engine,

Takes you directly to landrover 2.25 tuning bits,

I know they have supercharged a 2.25 petrol so it may be worth talking to them before you commit suicide.
