Why's that mate?
It was a 1969 Series 2A & rough old beast, I don't mean in terms of comfort, trimming etc... (I was used to a mates '56 Series 1 & someone elses 101FC)
It was just in need of some much doing to it, the only good part was the chassis.
I never really trusted it to even to get to work & back (10miles each way)
Reaching Otley on a weekend was cause for celebration.
It eventually went (in very late 1996?) for £500
t was replaced with a 3year old 110 Hard-Top (a 300Tdi), which in turn gave way to a (genuine factory built) 90CSW-V8
Photos of all 3 on my 'Web-Shots' under 'My Old Land Rovers'
Admittedly the idea of a 'rag-top' Series 3, but 'hybridised' with a coil-sprung chassis & Tdi does have a certain appeal
Something like the one owned by 'Muddy Mike' (http://forums.mud-club.com/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=343) (Mike Rogers) on here.
Have a look at it on his web-site, some of you may remember the build-up about 13years ago in 'LRO'
