Title: Steering lock stops
Post by: SWEETY on June 01, 2007, 22:20:48
My steering lock stops are worn out on my Terrano II (bit like me realy)
I know they don't cost that much but are they easy to do ?
How do they come off ? It's just that there is quiet a bit of rust on all nut & bolts around the hubs

Very easy!!

Remove the road wheel, lever off the old cap with a screwdriver, put new ones on. Slap some grease onto the stops on the wishbone part, and you are sorted.

www.nissan4x4ownersclub.co.uk has lots of workshop downloads for the Terrano.

Me too, the grease doesn't seem to last two minutes off road, sure its good for a year or more on the tarmac. It's not good for your power steering to be holding it hard against the stops anyway, full lock and then relax, allow them to just pop off the stop.

It can be very tight to get off my outer drive way at time due to cars being parked oppersite my drive. Apart from that I don't hold it on full lock if I can help it
