Title: LT77 into a 90
Post by: BK on December 15, 2007, 16:09:47
Heres one for you does anyone know if a LT77 box and borg warner transfer box (the one with the viscous coupling) from a manual 3.5 efi Rangey will drop straight into my 200tdi disco engined 90 with no mods apart from changing maybe the bell housing and gear stick :?:

Changing the bellhousing and input shaft to suit the 200 tdi will be a PITA job ! I also think the short stick box will put the gearchange in the wrong position. You will need a long stick LT77 which you would only find in an early RR which will most likely have a high ratio LT230 on it, well the one I have was just that combination.

But I believe the gearbox mountings are all the same for a BW and  an LT230. My mate has a 4.6 V8 mated to a Santana box with a BW transfer so it can be done. The issue is the transfer gear compatibilty when you mix and match.
