you might need to be more more specific as a lot of the disco td5's didn't have diff-lock mechanism fitted at all...  if you're looking for one that has. Some of the D2 LT230's had no difflock lever but the tranny has the mechanism ready to hook up but later ones had no gubbings on the tranny at all.

When I wanted a disco tranny fitted to my 300tdi defender I got sick of worn out tdi tranny that people fob off so I got very low mileage TD5 LT230 that was fitted to a 2002 D2, got it from a landy breaker in Forest of Dean (Jon Daunter  - recommended!) for 45 notes. That had the difflock mechanism fitted (but unused by the disco) but I still had to swap the output housing for one from a D1/defender because there was no speedo take off present due to the D2 using the ABS system for flyby wire speedo.   So that's another issue to watch out for.

You know you can fit one from a 300tdi disco don't you? Just find a low mileage one and you'll be sorted.  It's the same box as the defender but with the disco ratio. All I think that is different is that there might be a big damper weight bolted to bottom of yours which you can swap over anyway.

Another thing with the disco lt230's.... sometimes there is no teeth on the input gear dog... it's just blank. This is not a problem unless you intend to use the PTO for a winch or something, in which case you need to replace the input gear. I've been there and done that... PTO winch.

Thank you Paul Humphreys, got the transfer box from Durham all fitted after a bit of a game getting a rear g/box seal.. Also found that my trans had very little oil in it, it's miles smoother now.. So much for all oils been changed/toped up by previous owner.. Iv'e changed every fluid on the 90 now..

When I did mine, the seals were not leaking but I changed them for new anyway.......the new ones leaked so I gave it the vee's. The oil levels barely drop when I check every 4k.
