Title: 2.4 2.5 and 825 VM diesel engines
Post by: clbarclay on July 03, 2007, 20:21:13
Water in the oil (leaking piston liner O rings :?: ) has lead to the 2.4 VM in the families RRC needing to be changed. Time mainly and effort has lead to replacement being the best option.

We bought a 2.5 VM out of a rover 825 as a replacement with the understanding that the basic blocks were interchange able. It appears now that they are not, a number of slight changes in detail men that our 2.4 and the rover 2.5 are significantly different.

What I want to know is what the 2.5 VM factory fitted to a RRC is like regards the differences. Are all 2.5 VM engines the same or is it the 825 and RRC 2.5 different blocks?

On a RRC 2.5 where is the water pump mounted, is it on the front of the block or is it mounted on the side of the block?
On a RRC 2.5 is the oil filter mounted horizontally or angled upwards?
