Title: 300 TDi Defender
Post by: snezza69 on August 01, 2006, 13:10:23
Hi, does anyone here have a 24V 300TDi defender.  I am building one from a 12V bulkhead and loom and am trying to identify the part numbers for the 24V relays and dash bulbs.

Can anyone help?

Tried Craddocks and Paddocks as well as other companies.

Why not the 12v route?

The engine I got had all the 24V bits on (brand spanking), thought it would be easier to convert to 24V, but am considering options.

May be easier to transpose the anciliaries to 12v

Not really had any experience with this going that way, however you can get a 12v to 24v inverter, but it could mean a lot of dual wiring to sort out.

Sell the 24 volt stuff as it's worth a lot more than 12volt stuff anyway, you're quids in then  even when you've boght 12volt stuff to replace it.

If it is just a case of exchanging relays and a few bulbs, this seems simple enough for me.  I have seen 24 - 12V  transformers that should work for my wiper motor and such.

Apart from that I am not using the heater, so that is not a problem either.  The only other thing I can think of is the fuel guage!  That can't be much to sort out even if it also takes another transformer?

I will keep you all informed if you are interested!
