Title: Aircon
Post by: waveydavey on May 08, 2007, 19:35:43
My aircon has been deteriating; had a guy look today £15 to find a leak on the condenser.
Best I can find is about £100 for a new condenser, he wants £30 to fit it then it will be £50 to regas it.

Seems about as good as I'll get to me, does anybody know any better?

OK I have the new cooler and it's going in on Wednesday.

Looking at the manual the Intercooler has to come out to change it; does anybody have any tips on the best thing to clean the intercooler while its out?

Inside, petrol and let it soak.  Outside soak it in soapy water then a steady stream of weater, not a jet wash.

Thanks; done it today, more or less what I did but Paraffin and washed that out with Gunk.
Job done, AC back and working, the nice thing was that all the other coolers looked good.

Yes of course, parafin doesn't have any road fuel duty.

The joke is that really petrol would have been cheaper!
I could not source pumped parafin so had to get a gallon prepackaged, that was more than a gallon of petrol!
I thought about red diesel but wanted something a little lighter.

Anyway it's all done, a lot of gunk came out but it's hard to tell if it has any more boot really.
