in a recent Top Gear magazine issue it covered a sample of truckstops across the country mainly on the eastern side of england (A1/M1) corridor
the article mentioned a book you can buy which has been produced by the AA telling you about these cafes/truckstops which you might find a tad cheaper than your average motorway services.
i found the book on amazon for bout 6 quid, i cant remember the title as its in work and ive not been for a week but type in AA truckstop in the search and you should find it.

Here's one for you.
Just off of junction 9 M1 is Watling Street truck stop (towards Dunstable on the A5, approx 1 min along)
Loads cheaper than any motorway services.
Cars welcome, just choose your parking space wisely

Best oe I've found, in Devon, just off the A38 Devon Expressway at Drum Bridges roundabout. Take the roundabout towards Bovey Tracy but come off and head towards Liverton. Through Liverton and follow signs towards Gorse Blossom railway, Izzys Cafe on you left.
Doesn't look much from the outside, but the food is great!!

Best guide I've found is look and see how many HGV's etc are parked up outside. Whats more thats free
