i put a set of spot lights (driving lamps) on my 03 l200 and i was wondering if anyone knows how to wire them to the main beam only.
i wired them in to the main beam cable but the seem to come on with the parking lights too. would prefere not to have to wire in a switch.
cant seem to find the relay for the main beams.
any help would be great.

You need to put a relay in for the 2nd set of lights and wire the trigger of the relay on the main beam feed on the back of the lights.
If you just wire them directly to the headlights your running the risk of the wiring catching fire.
86 is the trigger from the existing headlights.

thats exactly how i have done it.
i used a propper kit that came with the lights.
just wondering why they come on with the parking lights aswell as the main beams.

I'd guess that you've a lower voltage running through the headlights for a dimmed effect when your on side lights. The spot light relay being sensative enough to pick up on this.
You could try taking a feed from the back of the stalk? A multimeter is going to be the only easy way to see where you can get a clean feed from.
Try taking a volatage reading from the fuse for the main beam with the lights in various positions (pull the fuese to the spots when you do this). That might be the best place to get a feed from thinking about it, since it's fused there shouldn't be any cross over to the other circuits. Or, if you know which relay operates the main beam, borrow the feed from this to trigger your spot relay.
