Title: No Acceleration
Post by: benbenukuk on November 22, 2008, 23:22:42
Hi, my mum and dad have just got a N reg diesel jeep that they have had nothing but trouble from, first the starter went then then clutch and now it doesn't pick up speed and you can't get over 60mph they had the clutch changed only a few days ago and it was fine until they did that, does any one know what we can check to see if we can sort out the problem? cheers.  Ben

does it struggle to rev past 2000rpm when you drive it

2000rpm and 60mph will be about the same ;)

It is important if it won't rev past 2000rpm, as this does point to a distinct problem, rather than just 60mph

It does rev past 2000rpm but doesn't pick up speed, your foot can be flat on the floor but it won't go any faster, 2ND gear is the worst for it. Ben

Check the condition of the intercooler hoses (internally) seem them collapse inside and block up

Will be stuck in limp mode, most likely to be knock sensor on number one injector but you better get it onto a bosch tester to make sure

You could also try the fuel filter.

I had this once on mine - would rev OK, but struggled to pull it at all - going up an hill I was down to 10mph

I was using bio and was expecting to change the fuel filter - but it was on the floor when I flooded the car so was no use

well we took it to a garage and they have found out the problem: some hoses connected to the turbo had collapsed, And they also found a water leak  :( but they are going to fix it all for free  :D as they brought the car from them and they have had nothing but trouble from it cheers,  Ben

seen quite a few do this, the internal layer of the hose delaminate and block the hose but look fine from the outside
