Title: Refilling a Freelander Cooling system
Post by: freelanderpx54 on August 17, 2009, 00:49:24
Well I did my good deed for the day and rescued a stricken Freelander. One of the coolant hoses had split (4 inch split) I managed to get the vehicle off the Junction and then when the ladies son arrived with a tow strop towed the vehicle home.

I know that Freelanders are a [!Expletive Deleted!] to refill with coolant so is there an idiots guide? I now drive a Disco TD5 so I have never changed the coolant in a freeby

I found it a doddle in my k series.

Take off the rad cooling fans and pop off the bottom hose of the rad.  Undo the bleed screws in the heater matrix and the is one further down under the air filter, which I'd advise to take off as well.  Then fill it up and close bleed screws when you get a consistent flow of water and that's pretty much it.  Put back together and pray :D

DT.
