This week the Freelander has been proving its worth again.
Did a 400 mile round trip in a day up to the Glos office, nice and comfy with heated seats on a cold morning. Picked up a roll bar for the Fergie on the way home fitted in the back fine. Musnt forget its off road every time I drive up the drive (need to get it filled\graded). Went to a farm sale today with the trailer, wouldnt have towed it up that track and out of a field with a car the Freelander diddnt even spin a wheel. Bought a harrow, took it home and towed the trailer into the filed to drop the harrow off. Off the the DIY shop to pick up underlay tomorrow.
Interestingly 3 people at the sale asked what engine was in it and how it went, mainly lots of old Jap 4x4 and a Rangie/Disco, must be the fuel/tax bite making people look at smaller stuff.
And they call them Soft roaders.....I dont need anything else unless I deliberately go pay and play.

Good to read a positive post about a Freelander :)
They're certainly very capable vehicles and do the job perfectly. As you said, you'll only really need anything more hardcore if you go out deliberately looking for technical challenges.

We too, use ours for all sorts of jobs. Tows a 2 tonne trailer, a horse box, lugs junk, does a bit of green laning, a bit of off roading. Everthing we ask of it is done with ease.
Sure, it has limitations off road, but if you pick your lines well and don't attempt anything beyond it's limits, it copes really well. And surprises quite a few people too.

No problem it is safely stashed when you are ready for it give me a bell.
Finished all my shenanigans at hospital now looking for a return to work in December, but I can easily get up any time.

I agree the old Hippo performs very well, I have had several comments from other 4x4 users when greenlaning how surprised they had been on the cabability of the Freelander.

Ours has a similar life ^^^ and agrees with last bit also!!! :dance: :lol:
