Just did a one off check of my300tdi 110 defender MPG to give me idea of running cost seeing I am likely going to be using for daily commute.
Previously I checked it about 2 year ago on a long haul run and it was between 33 and 36mpg, loaded up and running on SVO.
At moment it's got extreme MT tyres on and roof tent sitting on a full length rack, back is loaded with heavy tools and junk.
Commute is a 36mile round trip through a mix of Wiltshire Urban and A roads. Came out as 29MPG on this one test -

When I first got the 90 I was getting about 27 round town with at's and an ifor pig pen on the back, now with mud tyres at the proper pressure and the custom deck lid I get 29 in town. I knew them ifor tops were hateful for all they are practical.

I have allways reckoned on 30 ish for my 200tdi county 90 its empty except for toolbox /jack and Spanner my ESS gundog,it really makes no difference how its driven but might get 32 ish on a run being mindful of the fuel costs, Dodger.
