Can i ask what peoples thoughts are of the 2.0 litre Sport,it's a 96 Nreg and it will have 12 months MOT. The asking price is £695 and it as 113... on the clock. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Very thirsty, will do less than 20mpg and not very sprightly. Basically reliable trucks.
-
There is quite a big Frontera club, I'm not sure if none members can access the forum, might be worth a try there?
-
I have just got a sport 96/N with 76k for £450, bargain. its my second and is replacing my Disco 300tdi *waits for the gasps to settle* running costs compared with the disco, fuel wise cheaper to run, disco approx 21mpg fronty approx 25mpg with cheaper unleaded, they have all the protection underneath that they need, fuel tank/sump/steering guard etc although it is only tin it protects it well, fronty had 31/10/15's on disco had 235/85's on and i know there is a sizable difference it would leave a disco standing, very comfy if you like raked seats, easy to work on and parts are a plenty, easy to lift by 2" too.
bad points are
bumpy, not as capable as a disco/landrover etc, have a tendancy to blow crankshaft oil seals, coilers are a bit softer and yours is on the changeover so it may have them, parts are not as cheap as LR's, and B&Q snorkles dont look as nice as safari's, inlet for the airbox is behind headlight so dont go in water any higher without one.
All in all they are reliable and fun, bit like a comfy sj or something. and the price is about average for the one your looking at.

Hi Ady-thanks for that i think you have told me everything i need to know, and your right about your price-that's WOWWWWWW  . I must admit to being very tempted as this is the top of my price range as my normal ride as gone belly up and will be sold as spares. But that's life and at least i'll be back in 4x4 country, regards Andy. :D
-
Andy, what happend to the Rangie then
-
there WAS a SWB for £575 by me - I'll have a nosy if its still there..
SWMBO loves her 2.3 lwb..
not as many after market goodies available but still plenty.

very helpful bunch...

Andy pretty tough too, I remember Barry Scott trying to kill his at WWW2 with little success.
Guy next door has one, been allover in it towing the lads MotoX bike every weekend. I would say though that at 100k it might be needing an engine?
-
i find my fronty does a lot more than i expected it to do, its comfortable enough, plenty room, easy enough to service etc
and was very cheap to buy
needs a lift tho,

I agree with shinyheed.
Iv had mine for about 19 months and i love it. (yes it needs a lift)
The honeymoon period is over and its time to mod it.
It is my first foray into 4x4, but it drives like a car and there are plenty of realativly easy mods that can be done to make it even more capable off road :D

Thanks guys and sorry it's taken so long to back to you all but here goes, should collect the vehicle on Thursday afternoon with 12 months MOT and 6 months TAX  (HATE THAT WORD). Screwed him down to £650 all in :D ,nice to see a dealer skwerm and speechless when he wrote it all down and realised what he'd done, and of course i'll be taking it to a independant test station within a week or two to get it checked out whilst under warranty.Let you know how thnigs go,regards Andy.
-
good one, hope it serves you well mate :D
-
Nice one Andy :D
You wont regret it
-
fuzion137 your in a canny area there at abergavenny aren't you, i did six months at cwrt-y-gollen a long time ago, you've got some hills to play on round there haven't you, nice part of the country :D

What BIG size tyres has anyone fitted to thier FRONTY as mines got 255/65x16 on and they look so small,i know 235/70x16 do fit but just wondering about 235/85x16s!,cheers Andy.
-
can't help you there, mines not on 16"s i've got 31.10.50R15 Recip Trials on mine, very happy with them :)
-
have you lifted it to put that size on?
-
no but putting them on has lifted it slightly , they fit with loads of room to spare
-
Agree with that, seen one today with that size and it did look nice,Andy.
-
With a 2" lift 235/85/16's will fit ok, i am going for 265/75's on mine, not sure if or what they will catch though. they will work out to just short of 33"
This has got 235/85/16's on and lifted 2"

I had a LWB with 31"s on with no probs.
Good trucks with lots of potential.
-
This is my Frontera Pickup. 2" suspension raise, shackles and torsion bars, will probably be putting some 31 x 10.50 MTs on for playing in winter.
Thinking about a snorkel, they seem very expensive pre-made, so possibly a B&Q special to begin with, followed by something a bit classier.
Also thinking about a side exhaust, since the box seems to be the lowest bit on it.
Still needs work on the electrics and the loadbed. Might go for some of that stuff advertised in TOR for pickup loadbeds, or possibly hammerite, depending on pennies available. One thing I can do is electrics and with this I don't even have to bend too much  Let me know what you think.
Cheers

Thats the one of fleabay isnt it? i quite like it although i would put some sort of rollover bar in it as the rear original one is missing there.
-
Hi Ady,
Ahead of you there mate. Found one in Lincolnshire, picking it up at the weekend as well as a new rear door. The one in the photo doesn't look too bad, but its missing the handles and is quite battered.
Yes, it's the one off fleabay, got to say that I'm pleased with it so far, engine's sound and a lot more economical that most of the things I've been driving lately.
Cheers

i like that, theres a job for me next year, always wanted a pick up :D
-
What size tyres has everyone got on thier standard height SWB,mine currently has 255/65x16 road biased tyres but want to fit something a bit more servicable.I know 235/70x16 is OK but i'm thinking about MACHOS,AMAZONS or amy be SAHARA'S,any comments please let me know, regards Andy.
-
What width are the rims Andy? a 255 sounds like a damn wide tyre for such a light truck (probably more about style than ability) so you could get away with quite a narrow tread whicj will bite into the mud better.
-
31/10.5's are ok on standard height, i run 165/75's on mine but its lifted.
-
Hi ADY,i know i'm probably wrong but aren't 31/10.5-15 inch tyres or can i get/fit 31/10.5x16 on a standard height vehicle :?: ,thanks for the reply Andy, KEEP ON

Sorry Shinyheed, i must have missed this post, DOH
Yes its a great part of the country, although im not too farmilliar with the Greenlanes, yet
Cwrt-y-Collen, is that an army training place on the A40?
31" tyres will fit on a standard. unlifted Fronty
