Post by: bambamjj on October 22, 2008, 13:11:49
Just asking as i am looking to bin the Disco & get a Freelander 04 model year, 5 door TD4, or the same dealer has a TD5 Disco same year.

No. Some "special" editions had the TC and HDC removed ..... I had to recover a very annoyed owner of one such crippled "special edition"

Most of them do - look for a button behind the gear lever.

That will only show it has HDC. There are model variants with *NO* traction control, even though they have HDC.

Without the TC, how does HDC work?

I thought it used the TC...

No, the HDC uses the ABS system, and you can get non-abs Freelanders....

TC is just another trick they can pull with ABS systems ;-)

think it tended to be the "base" models on the Mk1 that didn't have HDC or maybe some of the 'special editions' mentioned by Thrasher - these probably based on the base model.

As for FL2's - not 100% sure, but I think they all have HDC as std
