Title: Shogun V6 petrol pump.
Post by: marjan on December 16, 2008, 20:52:50
I'm desperate for a petrol pump assembly for my 1996 3.0 V6 Shogun. I need the whole assembly that fastens inside the tank as mine has rotted through the return pipe on the top of the circular mounting plate.

I have tried several breakers but all the units are in as bad or worse state than mine

If I have to buy a new one from Mitsubishi what rediculous price will I be looking at ?

Ok, so no good second hand unit available and can't afford a new one.

Seeing as this is apparently a common problem, this is how I have repaired my old unit.

1. Cut off the original rusted pipe flush with top of round plate.

2. Cut of about 2" of inner pipe flush with inside of round plate.

3. Drill through with 8mm drill.

4. Feed a new piece of steel 8mm pipe through hole.

5. Join to inside pipe with petrol pipe and 2 jubillee clips.

6. Seal around new pipe with Chemical Metal.

7. Coat of anti-rust paint and job done.

Don't know why I didn't think of this earlier

Are you all ready for this , just had a call from Diamond Autoparts and they have quoted £814 for the complete unit

After I picked myself up off the floor I asked him if he was on drugs  :? :? :?
