Title: New Defender centre console
Post by: Sharpshooter on July 30, 2004, 15:29:37
Does anyone know where i could get one of these (other than a dealer) , and how much they are. Its an easy way to fit the stereo and also gives space for those extra switches.

Try the vehicle breakers like equicar, etc.

As an alternative, Devon 4x4 have just got a delivery of ARB roof consoles which will house a radio, switches, etc.  Might be worth a look

I like that centre console.  I'd guess it's not cheap.

Mobile Storage Systems (http://www.mobilestoragesystems.fsnet.co.uk/) do a fairly bullet-proof centre console.

Mine cost about £180, and means that I can actually keep stuff in the 90 now that it's a soft top...

I'll see if I can get some shots onto webshots later on - link below...

A number of the LR independent retailers are agents for MSS.

Cheers

I'm currently fitting one of the new centre consoles to my 1996 Defender. I've probably spent about £120 so far but haven't bought any of the switches yet. I only had an exploded diagram to go on and it's been a real pain. There are lots of little bits and pieces (some of which are still on back order), other parts I've bought but aren't required because they are already fitted to another part, or aren't required at all if you are fitting a radio as opposed to a storage bin.

I looked around but cound find no useful info on the internet so am going to do a write up on my website when I've finished. I'll try to make it the type of webpage I was hoping to find - including instructions, diagrams, photos, parts lists, prices, etc.

Please see attached diagram to show what I'm talking about.
