Title: Chequer Plate
Post by: Kev90 on May 12, 2004, 08:10:24
Does anyone know a good (value) supplier for sheets of chequer plate?

Preferably in the south-west, or with a good web site showing specs and prices and national delivery.

Thanks in advance

If all else fails, give Andy @ Allisport a try, he buys it in sheets and he will either tell you where you can get some, or sell you a sheet.

Been looking around this idea myself, there are not many places that actually deal direct

Will be interesting to see if you have any joy

'Machine Mart' did stock it a year or so ago, don't know the price but it used to be in the catalogue.

I have seen some of the stuff in B&Q but it will probably be very expensive and it might not be the thickness you need.

There was a company up in Lincoln I was told that supplied 8x4 sheets, but trying to get hold of the guy to find out where and how much

I managed to find a supplier in Bristol, Fred Powell Limited who wanted about £80 + VAT for 6'x4' sheet of 3mm and could do cuts and bends etc.

However, in the end I managed to buy several large offcuts (big enough to do what I want) and of an equivalent area to the sheet above for £42 (no VAT). Even better, he lives in Devon too, so I am collecting from him and paying cash.

Cheers for the advice!

PS, if you are after pre-formed wingtops etc, they seem to come up regularly on ebay for 'buy it now' £35 and look like the business.
