Title: Spot lights for Hannibal roof rack
Post by: Ollie on April 21, 2004, 13:46:40
Helloooo,
I'm after a pair of, well, probably four spots to mount on my Hannibal roof rack. Is there a kit available to do this, ie mounting brackets? Where have people routed the wiring, and where have they plumbed it in?
What's the best spot light for yer money

Cheers in advance,
Ollie

Ollie - I got 4 eye shaped lights from one of the shows at £7 a pair, not sure of the make but they light up the road a treat and the bonnet. With the chequer plate on the bonnet the reflection can be a bit dazzeling at times, you get some strange looks when wearing sunglasses at night :D

I ran the wires down the side of the snorkel and into the engine bay just under the bonnet, the relay and fuse/s etc are mounted inside the engine bay on the bulkhead and wires are then run in to the rear of the dashboard onto a switch. I took the live from the rear of the starter motor. I also have them linked to the sidelights so they will only work when the sidelights are on. I was told (not sure if true or not) that it was an legal requirement for this country. (Maybe someone can comment if this is the case). I also have the rear working lamp wired into a relay in the same place, but the wires come in via the back door and along the headlining along with the CB cable, then down the door piller.

Your welcome to have a look as to how I did it.

Ive found these WIPAC spots, the dogs. They do draw a few amps though. I routed the wiring down the back of the cab, and through a grommet.

The lights are quite bright, I only running on 60watt bulbs, but you can up them to 100 if you require. As I said I not sure of the make, but the chap that sells them is normally at all the major LR shows throught out the year.

At 7 quid a pair anit bad, that includes the mounting brackets and spare bulbs.

I'll do a search on the web see if I can find the company and let you know

Ollie, Had a look on the lights last night, couldn't find any markings or dealers stamp, so still no wisers as to who makes them.

As I'm not sure who the company was that I bought them from, trying to find them on the web is a bit tricky. They have been at Billing for the past 3 years so I sure there be there again this year.
