Title: A Little Movie Quiz
Post by: Bush Tucker Man on December 23, 2003, 16:01:03
FAO 'MuddyPlugger', and indeed any other interested viewers who might know the answers:D
1. What's the connections between Elvis Presley, 'Smokey & The Bandit (1&2), an American truck manufacturer & 'The Dukes Of Hazzard'?

2. The connections between 'Hooper', 'Deliverance', 'Smokey & The Bandit' & Batman (TV series)?
** Not including Burt Reynolds & Sally Field**

Not a prize in sight for the winner :)

2. Wrong :D (clue more than one connection)
Try again :D

Besides it was Ned Beatty who was on 'the wrong end of a hill-billy' in 'Deliverance'

Question 3;
What's the automotive connection between the 'Smokey' films & 'Dukes Of Hazzard'?

Sorry Chris. I know that beautifully painted W900 & box-trailer was one of the stars, but no.

Although both Phil & yourself are heading in the right direction

1.What's the connections between Elvis Presley, 'Smokey & The Bandit (1&2), an American truck manufacturer & 'The Dukes Of Hazzard'?

The only connections I can make are with Trans Am, In Smokey I a 1977 Trans Am was used and in II a 1979 was featured. Did Elvis Sing about or even drive a TA not sure not being a Elvis fan this doesn’t help. Then the America Truck link, Kenworth and MAC are ruled out. I know there were a couple of episodes in Dukes where a Truck was featured but what one? I’m lost on this…. Going nowhere fast.

2. The connections between 'Hooper', 'Deliverance', 'Smokey & The Bandit' & Batman (TV series)?
** Not including Burt Reynolds & Sally Field**

Deliverance didn’t feature many cars, manly set on the river with a canoe or have I got the wrong film? All the other featured cars, but what’s the link……

Question 3;
What's the automotive connection between the 'Smokey' films & 'Dukes Of Hazzard'?

In Dukes the General Lee was a 69 Dodge Charger, In the Smokey films a charger was used I think but I’m not sure of the year.

You’re going to have to put me out of my misery, I’m not making the connections here

Okaaay....

1. Elvis, 'Smokey', American truck & 'The Dukes'?

Jerry Reed wrote 'Guitar Man' (covered by Elvis)
He played Cletus Snow (Snowman) driving the Kenworth & GMC General
He wrote songs for, and appeared in TV adverts for GMC Trucks
He was asked to audition for the role that James Best got in 'The Dukes'
(Sherriff Roscoe P Coltrane) - too busy with films & his musical career

2. 'Hooper', 'Smokey', 'Deliverance'& 'Batman' (TV)?

In 'Hooper' when they're laying about at Sonny Hoopers house after the bar-room fight they're watching his old stunts on film. 'Deliverance' is featured as Reynolds is washed downstream
Hooper is doubling for Adam West (Batman/Bruce Wayne)  who is playing himself
'Hooper' & 'Smokey' both featured Pontiacs, '78 Trans-Am in S&tB 1,'80 in S&tB 2, '78 Firebird in 'Hooper' (the rocket car).
All the Police cars were Pontiacs
The ('Hooper'/'Smokey') director, Hal Needham was a stuntman in 'Deliverance'

Also Jan-Michael Vincent in 'Hooper' (later in'Air-Wolf')

3. Auto-motive connections between 'Smokey' & 'The Dukes'?
Both cars were originally named after horses.
In 'Dukes' the original choice for 'General Lee' was 'Traveller', the name of  General Robert E Lee's horse
In 'Smokey' the Trans-Ams are referred to as 'Trigger' & 'Son of Trigger'
(Roy Rogers horse?)
Also a Trans-Am was considered as a car for Bo & Luke, but it was decided that it was too new.
A Plymouth Superbird was also considered, but too rare to wreck, so the 1969 Charger got the nod
They destroyed almost 380 during filming (and never gave me one :( )

Also John Schneider (Bo Duke - blonde one) was a highly visible extra in 'Smokey 1)

Forgot a connection between 'Hooper' & 'The Dukes'......
James Best (Roscoe) was Sonny Hoopers best friend (can't remember charactor name)

D'OH!!!!!

More after Friday, as it's work, work, work now until then :D  :D

Glad I exercised your mind, sorry maybe it was a bit too 'geek-ish' & in-depth.

It ought to be fairly quiet up at the good old A&E until the pubs shut for tea-time.

I'll try to figure out some questions for you this afternoon

Clue; Possibly Bond related, or possibly not :D

Definately some car/truck related ones.
