Title: Battery Power
Post by: Adams_Stuff on May 18, 2006, 08:40:47
Hi - I am getting close to finishing my Series III 109" 24v FFR Landy - And it is time for a couple of new batteries - However I don't know what power rating / battery number - Code Ref etc that It should have as at the moment it has one battery that says 30 amps and one that says 60 I am pretty sure it should really have two of the same rating.

Also I think the batteries could be causing the weak spark problem I am having other wise I guess its time to bite the bullet and buy a coil.

I have already:

compressioned tested it - Fine
changed spark plugs
changed points
changed condenser
cleaned the crap out of the carb

but it still struggles to idle

Any words of wisdom always appreciated

A battery is a battery, don't worry about mixing the sizes as long as both are in good nick.  Once running the engine draws it's current from the alternator, not the battery, so maybe that's chuffed.  Otherwise get a flashtester for your sparks leads and test the strength of the spark.
