Title: Wood turning lathe....
Post by: hrh_dave on December 09, 2012, 17:12:14
Hi all...

Im wanting to do a bit of wood turning and also with acrylics, Im looking for a bit of advice about lathe's... Im not needing to work on large pieces maximum sizes will be blocks about 50mm square and at max 300mm long..

What sort of size of lathe should I be looking for, and what sort of power of one?

cheers
Dave

I wouldn't know but keep us posted on what you find as I could be interested in such a thing too.

I have a Record CL3, probably a bit too big for your need's, something like the Record DML36SH or the Charnwood W821 would seem best suited.

I have an Axminster lathe - seems to do the job I need it for...
This is the current equivalent

I find I can spend a fortune on different chucks, tools, wood blanks etc...
