How much of a saving on fuel if any were i to fit FWH? im aware that a supposed benifit is less wear on diff/shafts etc but are they a worthwhile investment ?

Ah.
One reads enough posts from folk replacing them with fixed hubs to wonder if they are worth it. I know when I had my maverick and it destroyed its auto hubs, I did not really notice any decrease in mpg.

with a Series vehicle it's reckoned that you might gain as much as 1-2mpg with fitting FWH's
the downside of FWH's is if a halfshaft snaps and you're on a slope, you can't get out of the vehicle because you won't have any way of stopping it running away due to the handbrake operating on the transmission
on saying that both my Series landrovers have FWH's, my third one will have them as well when i eventually get it on the road

no, it's just a real stiff ARB on road but can be unlocked (via the FWH) to allow full articulation of rear axle without being restricted by an ARB. I find it great on road with the root tent being fitted as it's a lot stiffer than the standard 110 ARB.
