Ive fitted new front discs and pads on the front of my 92 200 tdi defender 90 and i had to push the calliper pistons all the way in to get them back on the disc and i'm wondering if thats right or i have the wrong type discs ie thicker than they should be? Also they are binding a little so is that normal or will the pads bed in. So are new discs all the same thickness?

Sounds about right having to push the pistons all the way in when you done new pads & discs.
I had to when i did the rear ones. Even when i did just front pads i had to push pistons in all way to get the pads to fit.
Shouldnt bind tho ? are they just touching so when you spin the wheel you can hear them slipping against each other or are they binding so much its hard to spin the wheel ?
Check your brake fluid level, it may be a bit high now you have winded the pistons back in.

I can spin the wheels but as soon as you let go they will stop allmost straight away.
