Quite a few suppliers now do the mid box replacement pipe, Paddocks is where I got mine. Makes it sound a bit meatier, but not enough imho. I need to get the last silencer taken out and make it a straight through side exit I think.

I got a full stainless system from Rimmer Bros for my TD90, admitadly it wasn't cheap at £300 but it sounds fantastic and I don't know if its just my imagination but it feels a bit torquier too. Oh its nice and shiny too  :D

But if its just the noise your after then i'd go with the mid box replacement, my mate has just fitted a cherry bomb to his, believe its from scorpion racing/janspeed and that gives a very nice rumble from his tailpipe.

apparently the MOT doesnt care about noise limits for cars.
the exhaust on my 200tdi is about 4ft long, 2.5" bore straight through
loud doesnt quite describe it!!!

Think about what you need and how long your keep the landie for as a stainless one will cost about 3 times more than an normal steel one and a steel will last at least 3 - 5 years, so that’s a total of 15 - 20 years before its actually worth buying a stainless..
Also if you use a stainless and you go off roading and damage it you canrt take it back as its on the small print says that it voids the guarantee if used off road, which puts me off the idea. If you can find one that guarantees off road use then its not so bad.

I've got a Janspeed s/s straight thro system on HL; it sounds lovely!! And there's no MOT noise restriction for Diesels

There is a noise restriction limit for diesels, but its just described as 'can't be exsessively loud'. So get a friendly tester and you'll be fine.

The other trouble you may find is getting told off at off road sites. They wouldn't let me continue when my exhaust blew up on the V8. Lots of sites have limits

Have mid pipe replacement on my 90, makes little difference. Will get rid of rear muffler when it rusts out.

Sounded lovely when exhuast fell off the turbo outlet. (That would be a 2" bore 2" long exhaust!)

when i did that on my old 90 i just used a spare intermiediate pipe i orderd of craddocks by mistake about £12 i think. its the right bore and all you have to do is bend it in a few places depending where u want it. i also used the hanger off of the old silencer.
